HC40 TWIST™ Advanced
The Hand Control HC40 TWIST™ for operating electric adjustable beds is designed to match modern bedroom interiors with features that eliminate the need for multiple bedside devices. No matter how many motors, favorite positions, and massage options the bed offers, the design of this remote control remains clean. The HC40 TWIST™ is also ideal for homecare bed and nursing home bed applications.
The HC40 TWIST™ fits ergonomically in the hands of both right-handers and left-handers. Hold it and you will experience how natural and relaxed the position of your hand is when controlling the bed. Reference lines on the back and concave and convex buttons on the front ensure one-grip-reaches-all-buttons and an easy orientation of the remote.
The control is designed for day and night use. The screen brightness adjusts to the surroundings, dimming the light at night, if the user wants to check the time. Shake it sideways twice to illuminate a flashlight that guides the way in the dark. Set an alarm and wake up peacefully the following morning to a vibrating massage - leaving the partner undisturbed. Grab the remote to stop the alarm and get a personalized good morning greeting. Set the top row buttons to have the favorite features accessible with a single click.
The HC40 TWIST™ is developed for easy customization, get your own logo as the start-up screen, and let your brand be the first thing the user sees. Customize the color or surface and create a unique offering for a specific brand or bed series.

How to save shortcuts in the HC40 Advanced
- Enter the 'MY BED' menu
- Scroll to the 'SHORTCUT' bar and press 'SELECT'
- Choose one of the three shortcuts and press 'SELECT'
- Choose the feature you want to program to the selected shortcut and press 'SELECT'.
- The shortcut is now programmed and is accessible from the main screen.

- Enter the 'MY BED' menu

How to get started with the HC40 TWIST™ Advanced & HC40 FRAME™ Advanced
Set the time:
- Use the 'UP' and 'DOWN' buttons to adjust hours.
- Loop to minutes using 'LEFT' and 'RIGHT' arrows and set them with 'UP' and 'DOWN'.
- Press 'SAVE'.
Set the day:
- Use 'LEFT' and 'RIGHT' arrows to loop between the days.
- Press 'SAVE'.
The main screen is now reached. If arrows are shown in the display, you are good to go.
If not, set the bed in pairing mode by applying power to the system and press the two top buttons at the same time.

How to save favorite positions in the HC40 TWIST™ Advanced and HC40 FRAME™ Advanced.
- Drive the bed to desired position.
- Loop to the 'SAVE FAVORITE' screen and press 'SAVE'.
- Choose one of the positions and press 'SELECT'.
- The current position is now saved and will occur in the main menu loop.

HC40 Advanced: How to use
How to use and navigate the HC40 Advanced Hand Control.
The HC40 is designed with a five-way key: Four arrows and a 'SELECT' button. Use these to loop and scroll around the menu and confirms choices with the 'SELECT' button.
The dots on the side of the display indicate the options to the sides.
The top row of buttons refers to the text in the display.
The bed adjustment is done using the 'UP' and 'DOWN' arrows on the screen with the reference.
Use the 'RIGHT' and 'LEFT' arrows to loop to further options: 'FAVORITE POSITIONS', 'MASSAGE' and the 'MY BED' menu.

HC40 Advanced: How to control massage
Attention!
The massage function and menu are only accessible for systems including massage.
Learn how to control the massage function on the HC40 TWIST™ Advanced hand control for adjustable comfort beds.
Massage menus are available from the front screen. Simply use the arrow buttons to loop right or left in the menu to find the massage screens. The two screens are called “Massage back” and “Massage leg.”
From the massage screen it is possible to:
Set a timer
- Press the left button on the top row to set a timer for the duration of the massage.
- Use “up” and “down” keys to adjust the minutes
- Press the right button on the top row to save the choice and start the massage
Change massage mode
- Press the middle button on the top row to change massage mode
- A green circle appears, and the massage mode is now changed
- Repeat to toggle/change between more available modes.
Turn on/off the massage
- Press the right button on the top row to turn the massage on or off.
Adjust intensity
- Use the “up” key to increase the massage intensity.
- Use the “down” key to decrease the massage intensity.

HC40 Advanced: How to enable/disable the child lock

Pick up the hand control and activate the screen by pressing any button.
Enabling the child lock
- In the “My bed” menu, highlight the “Child lock.”
- Press the “Select” button.
- Press select to enable the child lock
- A notification will inform you of what you are about to do.
- Confirm your choice. The icon changes to green and “On.”
The fact that the child lock is enabled is illustrated by a “lock” icon at the top of the screen saver.
Unlocking the hand control
- When the hand control is locked any press of a button from the locked screen saver will initiate a guide explaining this procedure.
- Press and hold the “Left” and “Right” buttons at the same time for 3 seconds.
- The hand control is now unlocked and will be locked again after a period of inactivity.
To disable the child lock please repeat the process above called "enabling child lock."

Pick up the hand control and activate the screen by pressing any button.
- Go to the "My bed" menu.
- Press the “Select” on the "Me" bar.
- Press the third button on the top row to enter a name
- Use the “Left” and “Right” arrows to scroll through the alphabet.
- Press the first button on the top row to delete a character.
- Press the second button on the top row to insert a space between characters.
- Press the third button on the top row to save the name.
- The result: The HC40 sends notifications to the user in specific intervals to provide a personal experience.

HC40 Advanced: How to set and stop silent alarm
Attention!
The alarm menu is only accessible for systems including massage. When the alarm goes off, the massage motors start, providing a soundless wake-up.

Set the alarm:
Pick up the hand control and activate the screen by pressing any button.
- Go to the 'My bed' menu
- Use the up and down buttons to locate the ‘Alarms’ menu
- The alarm menu contains three alarms as default
- Choose the alarm you want to enable. Press the “select” button to enable the alarm. The icon switches to green and an alarm icon appears
- Press the middle button on the top row to edit the exact timing of when the alarm should go off
- Adjust the time by using the up and down buttons on the keypad
- Press the third button on the top row to save the time
- Your alarm is set
Stop the alarm
When the alarm goes off, the massage motors start in the latest setting and the screen will show a bell.
- To stop the alarm: Press the third button on the top row.

HC40 Advanced: How to turn the flashlight on/off

- Pick up the hand control and activate the screen by pressing any button.
- The flashlight can be turned on directly from any active screen.
- Simply shake the hand control sideways twice to turn on the flashlight.
- To turn it off, simply shake the hand control twice once again.

HC40 TWIST™ How to change batteries

- Open the battery lid by sliding the battery lid downwards.
- You will feel it loosen and the lid can easily be removed.
- You can now exchange the two AAA batteries.
- Reattach by placing the battery lid a little below the screen and slide it upwards to fasten it.

How to pair wireless hand controls to a LA18 IC system for comfort beds
Learn how to pair wireless hand controls to the LINAK® single actuator LA18 IC system for comfort beds using Bluetooth® technology.
- Connect the system to a power outlet
- Pairing mode has started when the Under Bed Light starts flashing. It will run for 3 minutes
- Press the top two buttons to pair the hand control
- A long flash means successful pairing
- The system is paired and ready for use
- The system will continue to be in pairing mode until the previously mentioned 3 minutes elapse. Then the light will turn green continuously to show that the system is no longer in pairing mode
Buy a new LINAK hand control for an adjustable bed
If you need a new hand control for your adjustable bed, you need to contact the supplier from whom you purchased the bed.
This applies both in cases where you have lost your hand control, the hand control is broken as well as in cases where the battery has run out of power and the battery cannot be exchanged. The supplier will assist you in ordering a new hand control - LINAK does not sell spare parts directly to the person who owns the bed.

Pairing hand controls to the CBH Advanced system with a Bluetooth® Adapter
How to pair hand controls to a system with a CBH Advanced and a Bluetooth® Adapter
- Connect to a power outlet
- Bluetooth® Adapter flashes for 3 minutes to indicate pairing mode
- To pair a hand control, press the two top buttons while the adapter is flashing
- A long flash indicates successful pairing
- All LINAK hand controls are paired by pressing the two top buttons
How to pair a hand control later
- Start pairing mode again
- Unplug from the power outlet and wait 10 seconds
- Connect to a power outlet
- Bluetooth® Adapter flashes for 3 minutes to indicate pairing mode
- Repeat pairing procedure on the other hand control
- The system is now paired and ready to use
My LINAK hand control has run out of battery life
My LINAK hand control has run out of battery life
Unfortunately, for some hand controls it is not possible to change the batteries. If your battery in these hand controls runs out of power, you will have to purchase a new hand control. You can do this by contacting the vendor who sold you the bed.
