Ultimate Off-road Campers
Like travelling, a linear actuator offers movement. By looking at it differently, new possibilities arise.
Behind every perfect camper trailer are good product design, engineering excellence, and quality components. Established in 1994 and now part of the Eagle Outdoors Group, Ultimate Off-road Campers has come to represent the best in innovative Australian engineering for superior off-road performance.
Australia is the most desolate country on earth; it is stunningly beautiful and captivating and offers extreme off-road adventures.
The demand for lightweight, off-road camper trailers offering exceptional comfort has significantly increased in the past two years as more Australians seek local adventures.
Manufacturing a trailer that can withstand harsh Australian conditions is not an easy task. Perfection takes time, and the pursuit never ends; as such, Ultimate Off-road Campers looked towards automation to bring its special edition X25 anniversary camper trailer to the next level.
The challenge
When you think of a camper trailer, an electric linear actuator is not a component you would associate as part of the design. Still, the LINAK® LA36 IC advanced actuator offered the right solution for Ultimate’s X25 anniversary model.
With Australian borders closed to international travel due to COVID-19 restrictions, more Australian’s have turned to off-road adventures.
The X25 is built with Ultimate’s off-grid package, allowing people to explore more remote destinations for longer. The X25 is a unique fiberglass camper trailer with a flip lid and tent opening offering 360-degree weather protection.
Ultimate Off-road Campers markets the X25 to families and discerning couples looking for a high-end, boutique Australian camper. Ultimate needed to manufacture a durable camper trailer that was comfortable, highly functional and easy to use.
The top shell trailer, when open to 180 degrees, forms a tent that offers luxurious comfort. However, the shell was heavy to lift due to attachments such as bedding, tent frames, and clothes. To remain competitive in the mature age market, Ultimate Off-road Campers needed a solution to address heavy load and provide customers smooth operation when opening the trailer.
The solution
The simplicity of setup and soft start and stop functions were crucial for the X25 operation and success.
To set the X25 apart from the competition, Ultimate off-road Campers turned to LINAK electric linear actuator solutions. Using the LA36 IC Advanced actuator, X25 camper trailer owners can now easily and quickly set up a campsite comfortably.
The LA36 was the best choice as it provides force, speed and stroke for the movement required when opening the shell trailer. Furthermore, LA36 is a maintenance-free product capable of working in extreme conditions which was a fit to the solution we were seeking.
The outcome
Ultimate Off-road Campers is always looking for ways to improve its product range to stay relevant and provide customers with a fully equipped camper trailer ready for any adventure.
Ultimate’s X25 anniversary model is an absolute winner on all fronts. The trailer’s built-in technology and ease of setup are its unique selling points.
Sales of Ultimate Campers quadrupled in 20/21 from the previous financial year, and Ultimate successfully attained the much coveted REDARC’s 2021 camper trailer of the year award. The X25 won the prestigious award for being a well-rounded performer, taking away the Best Fold Out, Most X-Factor and Best Self Sufficiency categories.
